On December 30, 2015, Johnny & Jo-Ann Fitzpatrick married.  It was a night not to be forgotten.   Family and loved ones from familiar Louisiana and far away Ireland gathered together in the spirit of ceremony and revelry, that of a Cajun Irish wedding.

Now, you are invited to take part. Appréciez!

Values are the reason to organize, produce, and create. As such, sharing values with one’s collaborators is essential.  Respect, acknowledgement of others, and bringing people together are the values I keep as do local musician +Aziz and yoga instructor, Lauren McCabe. Acting on such values, McCabe and +Aziz organized K10, a full day of music and community yoga on the Holy Cross Levee.  All of New Orleans was invited.  And so it seemed, all of New Orleans came.

8 am on a Saturday, 300+ neighbors and folks from all over the city gathered on the Holy Cross levee.  Such a turn out stunned all the K10 event organizers.   In an mid-day interview with Lauren, she exclaims, “to see everyone, eyes closed and breathing together (pause) – we have all had tons of experience over the past 10 years and to all come together and get rooted in this moment, now.  [ To say,] ‘ I’m here. I’m on the levee. I’m with my community, and I’m letting go.’ That’s powerful. You see that.  And you can feel that.”  Documenting K10, morning to evening, was in the truest sense of the word- awesome. See and feel for yourself.

EXPOSED BRICK RELIEFS, STAINED GLASS – THE MOST STUNNING I’VE SEEN IN THIS CITY, INTRICATE WROUGHT IRON, OVERGROWN BRIGHT CRESSES, DETAILS IN THE BRIDE’S LACE CHIFFON DRESS ARE A JUST FEW NOTES TO DESCRIBE JON AND SARAH’S WEDDING.   THEIR WEDDING IS A CASE IN POINT AS TO WHY I WORK WITH IMAGES.  EVEN THE MOST ARTICULATE DESCRIPTION WOULD NOT CAPTURE THE RADIANCE OF THIS FAIRY TALE EVENT.

HOWEVER IT MAY BEHOOVE ME TO WRITE ABOUT MAJESTY AND WONDER, I WILL SAY THAT DOCUMENTING JON AND SARAH HAYNES’  GORGEOUS CELEBRATION AS HUSBAND & WIFE WAS AN HONOR.  INTIMACY IN EVERY CORNER. SHARP, TAILORED TUXEDOS AND GLITTERING GOWNS. ONCE THE SUN FELL BELOW THE PALE PINK RELIEF, VIOLET BLUE PAINTED THE SKY AND ENCHANTMENT MARKED THE ENTIRE EVENING. I INVITE YOU TO WATCH AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.

UNPRECEDENTED WARMTH AND BEAUTY MARKED THIS WEDDING.  TO DESCRIBE LIZ & NICK’S WEDDING, I START WITH A SHORT STORY.   BEFORE EVERY PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT, AN ARTIST MEETS WITH HER CLIENT.  MEETINGS, EITHER BY PHONE OR IN PERSON, TYPICALLY LAST 30 MINUTES, NEVER MORE THAN 1 HOUR.  WELL, SITTING DOWN, DRINKING A BOTTLE OF SPANISH WHITE WITH LIZ RESULTED IN AN UNPRECEDENTED DEEP, 4 HOUR CONVERSATION.  WE TALKED ABOUT LOVE, LIFE, PHILOSOPHY, AND, OF COURSE, WEDDING PARTIES.

A COMBINATION OF FAMILY LABOR AND REVELRY MADE THIS WEDDING UNLIKE MANY OTHERS I’VE SEEN.  SET ON HUSBAND NICK’S CHILDHOOD FARM, AN HOUR OR SO OUTSIDE THE CITY, FAMILY AND FRIENDS GATHERED TOGETHER IN CASUAL GRACE.   THE SWELL OF DUSK REFLECTED BRIGHTLY ON EBULLIENT FACES AS THE BRIDE AND HER PARTY WALKED DOWN THE AISLE.  (EMPHATIC PAUSE OF REMEMBRANCE) THE AISLE SUMS UP ALL THE UNPRECEDENTED CHARM OF LIZ & NICK’S WEDDING.  UNDER THE COLOSSAL FLOWER ARRANGEMENT OF A FALLEN OLD OAK TREE, A TUTU DRESSED BILLY GOAT, PLENTY OF COWBOY BOOTS, A MISTY EYED FATHER, AND A RADIANT, LAUGHING BRIDE GLIDED UP TO THE CEREMONY.  OH & THE FLOOR  ON TOP OF WHICH VOWS AND DANCE MOVES WERE UNCHANGED – ALL BUILT BY NICK.  BRAVO!  – WHAT WITH SUCH ABOUNDING, WHOLESOME BEAUTY, MY CAMERA REFUSED TO STOP RECORDING.
