DAUGHTER OF THE WHITE RIVER

Documentary Feature

2018-2020

Development Producer

_____

Based on the eponymous true-crime novel by Denise White Parkinson, Daughter of the White River is a feature-length docu-drama. It’s a story of vengeance and Depression-era treachery. At the age of 17, Helen Spence avenged her father's murder by shooting his murderer inside the Arkansas County Courthouse. In so doing, Helen unleashed a chain of events that brought about her ultimate destruction inside the state’s notorious women's prison.

Through interviews and historical dramatizations, the film grapples with the deeply philosophical question...the deeply American question… What is the difference between a hero and a vigilante?
